Head coach of the French men's football team for the Olympic Games, Thierry Henry, has announced Kylian Mbappe's official decision regarding his participation at the global sporting event.

It is understood that many in France wanted Mbappe, who is now a free agent and believed to be Real Madrid-bound, to be the flag-bearer for the French come the opening ceremony of the Olympics, which are set to be held in his native Paris.
However, that wish will not be a reality for those connected with the host city as Henry, boss of France's U21 side, has confirmed that his request to have Paris Saint-Germain's all-time top goalscorer at his disposal was rejected by his likely new employers in Los Blancos.
When announcing his preliminary Olympics squad, the former Arsenal striker said of the 25-year-old's omission, per ESPN: "Real Madrid were really straightforward about the Olympics.

"The last time I received so many rejections was at the university. There have not even been negotiations.
"You go, you ask, they say no and you leave."
The pacey attacker already has national team obligations in this off-season, however, with Les Bleus now preparing for the upcoming UEFA European Championship in Germany.

Should France make it to the final of that competition on 14 July, he would have needed to be available for Henry 10 days later, and it seems that that does not work for Real as they will likely be looking to integrate their new superstar signing as best as possible with an adequate pre-season.
