With three wins in five matches, Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson is giving Amakhosi management some breathing room as they continue to deliberate on their next head coaching appointment.
Amakhosi registered back-to-back victories for the first time under Johnson when they edged Polokwane City 1-0 at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon, moving to 20 points.

Since taking charge, Johnson has registered nine points with the club, which is just two less than what former coach Molefi Ntseki managed in nine matches at the helm.
There has been progress while Johnson has been in charge and it appears Chiefs management is delighted with the progress, giving them some time to think about what will happen next with the head coaching role. As things stand, Amakhosi may push the decision to appoint someone for the role to the end of the season.
Initially, talk was that Amakhosi would be looking to appoint a replacement by the end of the year to give the new man an opportunity to work with the team during the Africa Cup of Nations break in January, but things have changed since then.
Johnson will be given the time to work with the team during this period and indications are that he will finish the season, to avoid having too many changes in one season.

According to information received by the Siya crew, Johnson could be considered for the position, should he continue to make positive progress with the team.
Johnson has loads of time to work with the team before their next match, against Richards Bay on December 23.
