AmaZulu Make Contact For Chiefs Striker?

AmaZulu Make Contact For Chiefs Striker?

AmaZulu could be looking at strengthening their strike force and the Siya crew has been informed that they may be targeting a Kaizer Chiefs player.

Siya sources close to both clubs have indicated that Usuthu have inquired about Wandile Duba with the intention of bringing him to KwaZulu-Natal.

Soccer Laduma has previously discussed the possibility of Chiefs letting Duba go out on loan this season.

Now, the sources have added that AmaZulu feel they may be short in their striking department which is why a young player like Duba could be useful to their squad.

"The club thinks they need to beef up the strike force. You know they are thin up front with the unfortunate situation of the late Bongi (Ntuli) and also with injuries and suspensions they want to make sure they have enough strikers," said the Siya source.

"And you know the coach has a liking for young players and that's why they are inquiring about Wandile (Duba) from Kaizer Chiefs. At the moment I can't say how far it has gone but the interest is there from AmaZulu," the source told the Siya crew.

A second source added that Amakhosi would want to see that the 19-year-old gains game time to develop his football and if it's a loan move then they could welcome it.

"Most of the time he plays for the DDC team but they want him to gain experience at a higher level and they would welcome a loan move and that's why they are not against the interest from teams line AmaZulu. We just have to wait for January and see what will happen around that time," said the second Siya source.

"He is good but if you look at the strikers right now (at Chiefs) he may not play any time soon so that loan move would help him and the club as well," the source added.

Duba was promoted to the senior team in the second half of last season under Arthur Zwane and he featured in five games, where he didn't score.

His current contract ends in June 2027, so if he impresses on loan, there is enough time for Duba to return and establish himself at Amakhosi after that.

Soccer Laduma contacted both clubs for comment but no response was received while this story was prepared.
