News making its way to the Siya crew's desk is that former Baroka FC striker Santino Smith has secured a deal in Russia. As reported by this publication in August, the player made his way to Europe, where he would try his luck with FC Dynamo Makhachkala after departing from Bakgaga following their failure to gain promotion back to the Premiership.
It took just over a month for the 22-year-old to convince the Russian side that he was worth the investment as he enjoyed a successful assessment period with the club, who ply their trade in the third tier.
According to Siya sources, Smith has secured a two-year contract with the club and has already featured in an official match since the decision was made.
The marksman, who came through the Bidvest Wits youth structures and was previously on the books of Highlands Park in the ABC Motsepe League, will be hoping to use the Makhachkala platform to secure himself a bigger deal in Europe.
