The win also saw Sundowns overtake Chiefs' league record of going 31 games unbeaten and Mokwena was massively proud of his team after Wednesday's win.
"You just have to look at what they've done and look at their previous game. Stellies are a very, very good team. Well coached with very, very good players. Even the players that came on as subs, big compliment to Stevie Barker and Wesley and the technical team and for what they've done," Mokwena told SuperSport after the game.
"But also massive, massive congratulations to this football club. Massive, massive work we stand now as the new record breakers with 32 games unbeaten in a row.
"Just want to congratulate everyone involved from the Motsepe family, chairman to the fans, supporters and then to this incredible group of players and the technical staff, unbelievable very, very proud of them and congratulations.
"A tough win and to come from 1-0 down against a very good side is not easy and we showed good character, but very, very proud of this team," he added.
