The Witbank-born star, fresh from winning the CAF Champions League as well as the Egyptian Premier League made a return to South Africa following a successful season with Al Ahly.
With the DStv Premiership having kicked off just over a week ago, not even the 'Lion of Judah' could resist one of the league's biggest matches as the Brazilians and the Glamour Boys did battle in Atteridgeville.
Despite his best efforts to fly under the radar with a cap and aviator sunglasses, Tau had been spotted by fans and naturally speculation increased given that the 29-year-old's future is currently up in the air.
Now, Siya sources in the know have informed the crew that Tau's presence at Wednesday's match was nothing more than him watching his former team, as he is expected to pen a long-term deal with the Egyptian giants, as reported by the Siya crew.
"The League in Egypt is closed until mid-September and all Al Ahly players have either returned home or gone on holiday and Tau is no different. He loves football, so it was no surprise to see him at the stadium but that does not mean he will sign for Sundowns.
"Coach Marcelle Koller values him highly and his agent has already begun negotiating a new and improved contract for him in Egypt," the source informed the crew.
Tau, according to Siya sources, is expected to put pen to paper on a four-year contract, which could see him pocket a handsome R2.2 million-per month.
