Mamelodi Sundowns are prepared to offer Tshwane rivals SuperSport United three players in exchange for teenage sensation Thapelo Maseko.
The Siya crew revealed last week that the Brazilians were considering a whopping R20 million bid for the junior international, and it's emerged that figure could involve defender Mosa Lebusa as well as two players currently on loan, in midfielder Grant Margeman and striker Etiosa Ighodaro.
The Randburg-based outfit has so far rejected two bids from Belgian top-flight club KV Westerlo, citing the offers are too low for Maseko. It's believed Sundowns could offer more as they have the financial muscle to counter any proposal from Europe.
Soccer Laduma has been led to believe the two parties have engaged informally on Maseko potentially moving to Chloorkop next season despite SuperSport not yet ready to sell according to CEO Stan Matthews.
But everyone has a price.
The three players being offered in exchange would sweeten the deal – Lebusa has not been a regular this season, while Matsatsantsa have expressed an interest in making the Margeman loan deal permanent.
Ighodaro has had his best return for Chippa United with 10 goals from 24 DStv Premiership games, while still on the Brazilians' books. Maseko's agent, Lance Davids of Football First, is on the record saying they would prefer the winger moves abroad.
Matthews has also confirmed that the player will go on trial in England when the reserve league team travels to the UK as part of their prize for winning the DStv Diski Challenge championship this season.
But the Downs offer could sway SuperSport.
