Pep Suggests Man City Stars Went Against His Orders

Pep Suggests Man City Stars Went Against His Orders

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has suggested that a few of his players went against his orders in their 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

PSG Want Guardiola? Man City Coach Sends Firm Response!

Despite a late push from the Villans, City picked up a fairly comfortable three points at the Etihad Stadium in what has been a tumultuous week for the club.

The Citizens are currently under investigation for reported financial breaches, leaving many concerned about the short- and long-term future of Guardiola, who has cut a frustrated and stressed figure in recent days.

He would not have been too happy, therefore, to see his players arguing over penalty duty in Sunday's victory after Rodri appeared to try to take the ball from Riyad Mahrez after City were awarded a spot-kick.

Captain Ilkay Gundogan intervened before the situation escalated, but Guardiola has since insisted that their top scorer Erling Haaland is the team's designated penalty-taker.

"Normally, Erling is the first taker," he said, according to Goal

"I wanted that but Riyad always tries to do it, Rodri was involved. I don't know what happened.

"Tomorrow, we will speak with them. I like when people want to take penalties but always there is one that is the main one and that is Erling."

Haaland, who has scored 31 goals across all competitions so far this season, was substituted off at half-time ahead of their Premier League encounter against Arsenal in midweek.
