Croatia's star in their 4-1 victory over Canada at the FIFA World Cup has clapped back at their North American opponents, who had claimed they were "going to go and f***" them.
Messi Accused Of Wiping Dressing Room Floor With Mexico Shirt
Ahead of their second Group F encounter against the 2018 FIFA World Cup runners-ups, Canada head coach John Herdman was optimistic about their prospects given their performance in their first match against Belgium last week, saying they were "going to go and 'F' Croatia next".
The north Americans would, however, face a rude awakening once they stepped on to the pitch with the Luka Modric-led eastern Europeans.
Canada opened the match's scoring, finding the back of the net for the first time at a FIFA World Cup tournament courtesy of Alphonso Davies, but that would be as good as it got for Herdman's men.
Croatia would go on to scored four unanswered goals as Zlatko Dalic's charges handed Canada their worst-ever World Cup defeat, a 4-1 loss.
Two of those goals were scored by 1899 Hoffenheim forward Andrej Kramaric, and after the game, the 31-year-old hit back at Herdman's comments.
"These are words that have motivated the whole of Croatia. I want to thank the coach of Canada for the motivation," Kramaric said after the final whistle, as per Goal.
"He could have chosen better words. He could have formulated it a bit differently.
"In the end, Croatia demonstrated who f***** whom."
Morocco Upset World No.2 Belgium At World Cup
The Canadians have now been eliminated from the competition as they go into their final Group F encounter against Morocco with no chance of making it to the knockout phase.
Canada have lost all five of the World Cup matches they have played to date, the second most consecutive losses of any nation in the tournament's history.
