Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo's explosive interview, where he criticised manager Erik ten Hag and the club owners.
Ronaldo sat down with English broadcaster Piers Morgan for an exclusive where he opened about his situation at Old trafford this season.
Varane Makes Ronaldo Interview Admission
France defender Raphael Varane recently said the interview does affect the team, however Fernandes reveals Portugal coach Fernando Santos made it a point not to focus on non-team matters.
"I didn't read the interview," Fernandes told Sky Sports.
"As I said before, now it's the national team. It's Portugal. The coach made a point that it's us.
"He made that point since I came to the national team in 2017. That is still clear. In his mind, the main thing is the national team. We have to be focused on the World Cup.
"Cristiano has done really well to play at five World Cups - this will be his fifth time. Everyone is ready for that and everyone wants the best for the team."
Fernandes bagged a brace as Portugal, who were without Ronaldo, thrashed Nigeria in their final World Cup warm-up encounter this week.
Portugal open their World Cup campaign against Ghana next Thursday.
