With Cristiano Ronaldo publicly suggesting he is better looking than Wayne Rooney in response to criticism from his former teammate, it has been revealed how England's ex-captain has reacted to what the Portuguese forward said.
Lingard Says He Was Depressed At Man Utd
Speaking recently about Ronaldo's situation at Manchester United, Rooney said he does not believe Erik ten Hag's side are stronger with the 37-year-old in the starting XI.
The former England international also stated that the incidents off the field have become an unwanted distraction at the Red Devils, comments that Ronaldo did not seem to be best pleased with.
In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner addressed the remarks made by his old strike partner, saying that he does not understand the criticism before claiming it could be coming from a place of jealously.
Ronaldo went on to call himself better looking than Rooney before broadcaster Morgan burst out laughing in the conversation that is reportedly set to be released in full later this week.
According to Sky Sports, Rooney was left bemused by the comments Ronaldo made about him in the interview, but will not get into a war of words with his ex-colleague as he feels no animosity towards him.
