CAF announced the team on Tuesday night and Kaizer Chiefs attacker Khama Billiat, as well as Mamelodi Sundowns' Denis Onyango, have been included in the team, which features Al Ahly forward Tau.

All three players were part of the Sundowns side which won the Champions League title in 2016.
Billiat, who has been out recovering from injury recently at Naturena, also featured in the 2021 Champions League final with Amakhosi, who lost to Egyptian giants Ahly in Morocco.

Onyango, who is yet to feature this season since the arrival of Ronwen Williams, has been regarded as one of the best goalkeepers on the continent for a while, having also won the 2016 African player of the year award for individuals based on the continent. Onyango has played an important role for Sundowns in the Champions League, using his experience over the years to get the club to the knockout phases, though they have not been able to repeat the success of 2016.
