A big decision is pending on an influential PSL veteran whose name is one of those to be discussed at the end of the season.

As he nears the end of his 17th year as a professional footballer, Lindokuhle Mbatha will be looking forward to sitting down with his employers at TS Galaxy to discuss the future.

The midfielder has had yet another impressive season, and in so doing, defying the odds with regards to his age and setting a good example to the youngsters in the team.

After being disrupted by injury earlier in the season, Mbatha has come back strongly to continue from where he left off with his inspiring performances as he provided an assist for Djakaridja Junior Traoré's second goal in Galaxy's 2-1 win over stuttering AmaZulu.

Mbatha had featured in all 14 of Galaxy's matches at the time he picked up an injury last month.

The 37-year-old former Mamelodi Sundowns man will hope to finish the season on a high to mark another successful season with the club like he has done in the previous two seasons since the team came into the topflight after purchasing the status of Highlands Park.

The veteran player's current contract with Galaxy is set to expire at the end of June, and although he has attracted interest from elsewhere despite his age, the Newcastle-born star is giving the Kameelrivier-based outfit first preference.

"Lindo is a dedicated professional who does everything by the book and is living his life like a true professional that he is. That's why he has had such a long and successful career and is still going strong at his age," said the source.

"He isn't rushing for anything and is committed to helping TS Galaxy to finish the season in a respectful position on the log. There aren't any worries regarding his future as that will be taken care of at the end of the season after he has met with the club," the source concluded.

Contacted for comment, Mbatha's representative from Rush Hour Sports Management, Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi told the Siya crew, "Lindokuhle Mbatha is focused on helping TS Galaxy to finish the season on a high and that's what is important for him and the club right now. Yes, the contract will finish at the end of the season, but we are not concerned because he has a good relationship with the club and he is valued highly there. Also, I have a good relationship with the club's boss Tim Sukazi since his time as an agent and there are good things that he did for me over the years to help me to be where I am today. So, we are not concerned about Mbatha's future because there is also a possibility of him possibly working at the club in a different capacity after his playing days."
