Galaxy Grooming Mere For Club Role?
The Siya crew has been reliably informed that veteran TS Galaxy defender, Vuyo Mere is currently being groomed for a role within the club.
It's unclear at this stage if the 40-year-old will bring an end to his playing career at the end of the season, but plans are being made for the player to start working within the club.
The Siya crew has not been given details into what role he will occupy once he stops playing, but indications are that he could work closely with the media team, having recently attended the Nedbank Cup draw as an observer.
Mere, who remains a key member of the squad, is yet to make an appearance for the Rockets. The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Platinum Stars right back has been training with the club and is seen by head coach Sead Ramovic as a key member of the squad, with his ability to lead the younger players who require guidance.
Mere's contract is due to expire at the end of the season, but he will remain with Galaxy, whether or not he is playing.
The club is expected to make an announcement on the future of Mere within the next few months. Mere is currently in his 23rd season in the PSL and it could be his final one, with plans in place for him by Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi, who values him.
