TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic has explained how they sold the core of their team to bigger clubs, and according to him, still managed to be on the same level as Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

The Rockets sold just over half of their regular players in the off-season, as goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi was signed by the Buccaneers, Given Msimango joined Amakhosi, Mamelodi Sundowns snapped up Bathusi Aubaas, Cape Town City signed Tshegofatso Nyama while leading striker Djakaridja Traore signed for Turkish Superliga club Instanbulspor and Aphelele Teto signed for Scottish side Livingston.

The Mpumalanga-based side also parted ways with Keletso Makgalwa and Lifa Hlongwane.

Despite losing these players, Galaxy are performing reasonably well in tenth place with 15 points, just one point behind ninth-placed Pirates and two points behind seventh-placed Chiefs and are in the semi-finals of the Carling Knockout.

Ramovic asked which PSL team can survive after selling so many players to bigger teams and attributed their ability to remain competitive to scouting players who are willing to work hard.

"I like players that have a great attitude, who come to training, want to improve one percent everyday, players who are lazy, they don't want to train that hard, these players will not have any space, I don't have time to lose for these kinds of players," Ramovic told reporters in a press conference.

"And now after we have sold seven players to the big clubs here in South Africa, also abroad, it means my staff deserves a lot of credit, and did a fantastic job. Because if you see in this league, which team sells seven players to the best teams in South Africa and after getting players from the NFD, from the Under-21s and still compete, tenth on the table, we want to be up, in the semi-finals of the Carling Knockout.

"There's no secret about it. It's about hard work, the right attitude, the right dedication and when you have these kinds of players, then it's a big chance you can win something. It's not always that the money wins the cups, it's the million great attitude players that win something and this is what we try to have," he added.

TS Galaxy will travel to AmaZulu in the Carling Knockout semi-finals on Sunday afternoon.
