Bernard Parker missed a penalty in the second half as TS Galaxy extended their winless run to seven matches with a goalless draw against Swallows.

DStv Premiership

Result: TS Galaxy 0-0 Swallows FC

Date: 07 October 2022

Venue: Mbombela Stadium

The Rockets made four changes from their narrow loss against Marumo Gallants, as Bernard Parker, Xola Mlambo and Bathusi Aubaas were recalled while Kamogelo Sebelebele got his first start.

The Birds, on the other hand, made only one change from their loss against Kaizer Chiefs, as Darrel Matsheke was brought back.

Galaxy took the initiative to attack in the early stages but came close to going ahead on ten minutes from a set-piece after Parker curled a dipping strike just wide of the near post.

The game opened up after that as Tshediso Patjie had a chance for Swallows three minutes later after going through on goal in the box but his shot across was saved at full stretch by shot-stopper Melusi Buthelezi.

The encounter progressed with end to end attacks and Galaxy looked to have carved out a good chance just before the half-time break after a through ball towards striker Djakaridja Traore in the box but Wandisile Letlabika made a crucial tackle from behind to snuff out danger.

The home side were more threatening in the early stages of the second stanza going forward as Aubaas had a glorious chance after he was released clear on goal by Sebelebele in the box but but his shot across the face goal missed the far bottom corner by a whisker.

Chances continued to flow for Galaxy, as Parker should have given them the lead seven minutes from the interval but he was denied by goalkeeper Sanele Tshabalala in a one-on-one.

Parker had another big opportunity to redeem himself shortly after the hour-mark after Galaxy were awarded a penalty for a handball in the box by Junaid Sait but his spot-kick was smothered by Tshabalala.

After the intensity of the game slowed down, Swallows made an attacking change with 16 minutes remaining, as Lebogang Lesako replaced Mbulelo Wambi and the Rockets needed fresh legs up top as Lindokuhle Mbatha came on for Parker.

The game was there for the taking in the tail end and Aubaas thought he had scored the winner for Galaxy in stoppage time after guiding a free header into the back of the net at the back post but the goal was chalked off for offside, as the sides shared the spoils.
