As previously reported by the Siya crew, DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns are looking into the possibility of signing SuperSport United youngster Shandre Campbell.
The Siya crew has been led to believe that Sundowns will enquire about the player in the coming weeks, hoping that they can add him to the squad.
The Tshwane giants are believed to have identified Campbell as a player they can have at the club for a long time, considering his age. At 18, they believe that the youngster can make a huge impact.
Just last season, Sundowns signed youngster Thapelo Maseko from SuperSport and, despite injuries hampering his progress at times, the left winger has been able to make a mark at the club and a lot more is expected from him.
Campbell is about to complete his first season in the topflight of South African football and it's definitely one he can be proud of. Since getting promoted, he has become one of head coach Gavin Hunt's most trusted attackers, using his ability to play on both wings to give defenders a problem.
The left-footed player has made 25 appearances in all competitions for the club, coming up with 10 goal contributions. He has found the back of the net five times and has as many assists. SuperSport, however, are hoping to move the player abroad, with interest understood to have already come their way for the former DStv Diski Challenge player.
So, they are not likely to make it easy for Sundowns. Sundowns have always been a side that plans for the future, and it would come as no surprise if they were to dig deep into their pockets again to secure the services of another talented youngster in South African football.
