If Kaizer Chiefs are indeed making a move for TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic, then it would not be a bad appointment at all.
A number of coaches have been linked with arguably the hottest coaching seat in the country and it's believed most of the CVs Amakhosi have had on the table are from coaches outside the borders of South Africa.
Some experienced coaches have been mentioned, some who have worked on the continent, and they would probably make an impact at the club if they were to get an opportunity. But there are a few benefits to appointing Ramovic that could work in Amakhosi's favour for next season.
Chiefs, you see, are in a situation where supporters want success and they want it now. For the last nine years, Chiefs have brought in quite a number of new coaches and most of them have needed time to build. At this stage, Chiefs supporters are not likely to take another rebuilding phase that does not come with trophies in the cabinet.
While appointing Ramovic does not guarantee that there will all of a sudden be trophies in the cabinet, his appointment does mean that he will not need a lot of time to settle in because he has been in the PSL for some time now and understands the local game quite well.
This does mean, however, he would be under more pressure to deliver because, with so much experience of working in the PSL, supporters will be expecting him to deliver from the word go and might not give him much time to settle into a role that many coaches have not been able to handle over the last few years.
Since his appointment as Galaxy coach, Ramovic has turned the club into a solid unit defensively. The Rockets do not concede too many goals and he would no doubt work on the Amakhosi defence which has conceded some soft goals over the last few seasons.
What's more, Galaxy play carpet football under Ramovic and use the pace of full backs to open up opposition defences, so he would probably get Amakhosi playing in the same way.
To add some spice to the whole thing, Ramovic has a fierce rivalry with Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena, so it would no doubt make the matches between the two giants even more interesting if Amakhosi were to appoint the European coach. Can you imagine what matches between Chiefs and Sundowns would be like? Absolute drama!
