The ex-German international said McCarthy has all the tools to succeed as Harambee Stars coach if he makes use of the talent at his disposal.
Pulse Sports Kenya reported the former Bayern Munich midfielder saying that the South African can take the country forward if he has good support.
"In Kenya, you have a huge opportunity to get up there and now Benni McCarthy is the head coach so I wish him all the best and I hope that they will work on the things of course,” Schweinsteiger told NTV during a Champions League trophy tour in Kenya.
The German praised the amount of talent Kenya has on offer.
"Like a youth basement for coaching and all this stuff is very important, but the quality and the talent you have is fantastic. You just need to use it,” the former Manchester United player said.
Schweinsteiger's comments will put pressure on the former Blackburn Rovers striker as he looks to secure his first win as Harambee Stars boss.
