Roberto Firmino has been linked with a surprise return to the Premier League as he is reportedly unhappy in the Saudi Pro League.

The Brazilian forward left Liverpool at the end of last season and joined Al-Ahli on a free transfer, joining a number of high-profile footballers leaving Europe for Saudi Arabia.

Firmino has not had the best of times in Saudi after bagging just three goals in 16 appearances, with those three goals coming on his debut in August.

According to talkSPORT, Firmino could look to depart AL Ahli in the January transfer window after the criticism from the supporters in recent weeks.

Reports claim that clubs from England, Turkey and other Saudi Pro League teams are said to be interested in the Copa America winnner.

TalkSPORT add that relegation-threatened Sheffield United were monitoring the player's situation before former coach Paul Heckingbottom was relieved of his duties last month.

Al Ettifaq could also make a move for the former Liverpool star as coach Steven Gerrard revealed his admiration for the player.

"I obviously know Bobby extremely well, I've been a massive fan. I've followed him for years," Gerrard told talkSPORT.

"At the moment he's Al Ahli's player so it's very difficult for me to comment on that situation.

"But I've loved Bobby Firmino since the first day I watched him and I'm a huge fan. He belongs to another club, so I won't sit here and name names."
