The 36-year-old has been in fine form for the Herons so far this term, despite having missed five matches across all competitions due to fitness issues.
Messi, in particular, has looked almost unstoppable at times in MLS matches, after being directly involved in 10 goals in six league games.
His latest performance saw him contribute to all three goals in a 3-1 home win over Nashville SC, with Inter Miami currently sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference after 10 matches.
MLS legend Sacha Kljestan has reserved high praise for the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner, saying the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner is causing real problems for his rivals.
"Lionel Messi was the star of the show (again) after his two-goal, one assist performance," he wrote on the league's official website.
"It's pretty fun to watch this GOAT play, especially when he's had a whole week to prepare.
"A healthy and rested Messi = a nightmare for the opposition."
