After a quiet start to the encounter, SuperSport nearly broke the deadlock in the 14th minute but Brockie failed to direct his header on target.

Thuso Phala went close to handing the home side the lead in the 29th minute as he fired thumping effort just over the crossbar from the edge of the box.

Dikwena, meanwhile, were finding it tough to create openings as Ronwen Williams endured a quiet half.

Brockie squandered another chance in the 39th minute as Phala lifted the ball to the far post but the New Zealand striker headed from six-yards out.

Dikwena had their first chance shortly after the break when Robert Ng'ambi headed wide of the upright.

With SuperSport pushing for a goal, Eric Tinkler introduced Thabo Mnyamane for Boateng on the hour mark.

Mnyamane had a chance to hand the home side the lead after 73 minutes but he fired over the crossbar just moments after Dikwena had a goal flagged offside.

Tinkler threw on Sifiso Myeni for the final 10 minutes of the second half as they pushed for a winning goal.

The change paid off for Tinkler and SuperSport, as Myeni found the back of the net with a fine strike in the 85th minute to secure three points for the hosts.

The result was sealed in stoppage time as Brockie rounded Mzimela to slot into an empty net.

@HDK 732 VP That wasn't a free header bruh.....he was sandwiched by 2 defenders in that header hence he couldn't get a clear conduct with the ball. Even the Analyst on SS, said the defender did well by putting him off otherwise he wouldn't have missed that one
