The young South African striker, Lebo Mothiba, is expected to finalise a move to Valenciennes this month after a season-long loan was agreed with his club, Lille.
The 21-year-old spent the second half of the 2016/17 campaign on loan with the Ligue 2 outfit and impressed after returning from injury as he scored two goals for the club.
According to Siya sources, Valenciennes’ head coach, Faruk Hadžibegić, has made re-signing Mothiba as one of his main priorities ahead of the new season and looks to have secured his man after terms were agreed.
The Siya crew has been informed that Mothiba is likely to finalise his move for the season in the coming week and will be with Valenciennes when their preseason training begins.
Lille was against including an option in the loan as they see a future for the South African at the club, however, they are eager for him to pick up some more regular game time in the French second tier before he becomes a consistent member of their first team squad.
Valenciennes fans voted for Mothiba as the ‘Revelation of the Season’ at the club last year and will hope for more goals from him during his second spell at the club.
The youngster, who has ambitions of playing for Bafana Bafana, has been told by Stuart Baxter that he needs to be playing if he’s to stand a chance of being part of the national team setup.
