The 27-year-old has enjoyed an extended spell in the team of late following an injury to Nany Dimata and was given the nod for yesterday evening’s crunch encounter with Racing Genk for a spot in the UEFA Europa League.
Oostende started brightly as they grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first half, however, they were pegged back just before halftime, going into the break 2-1 up.
It was Jali who eventually stepped up to settle the nerves as he poked home from close range following some good movement from the former Orlando Pirates man, with his side clinching victory and a spot in the continental competition.
The victory means Jali’s side will enter the Europa League in the third qualifying round alongside teams such as Everton, AC Milan, Marseille and May Mahlangu’s Dinamo Bucharest, getting to test themselves in Europe for the very first time in their history.
Jali celebrated with former rival and current teammate, Knowledge Musona, after the game, although at this stage it remains to be seen if he will still be with Oostende to enjoy the fruits of their labour next season.
The midfield man has been linked with a move away from the club in the next transfer window following a difficult season in which he has struggled for game time in Ostende.
