Stuart Baxter Talks About The Challenges Ahead Of Bafana Bafana Clash

By Soccer Laduma - Aug 11, 2017 11:18 AM

Bafana Bafana will host Zambia in the first leg of the third round of the Chan qualifiers and after having most of his key players withdrawn from the squad, Head Coach Stuart Baxter has admitted to the challenges he faces ahead of the clash.

The South African National team will welcome Zambia to the Buffalo Stadium in East London tomorrow, August 12, a fixture which clashes with the domestic 2017 MTN8 matches taking place on the same day.

Head Coach Baxter has had most of his key players withdrawn from his previous squad due to the player's club commitments in the domestic campaign.

Speaking to the South African Football Association’s official website, the Englishman has admitted that his side are under no illusion that the clash against Zambia will be a difficult one given the circumstances at hand.

“We have done what we can with the constraints that we have and we will go into the game with a positive attitude. Given the fact that Zambia will come here with probably their best team, we are under no illusion that it is going to be a difficult game,” Baxter told SAFA’s official website.

“First we have to focus on making our squad a team first, that’s the biggest thing. You bring them in from all over the country and have a couple of training sessions and they have to try and become a team. It’s not impossible, we must just get them on the same page.”

“We have to give them that sense of security so that they go out there and express themselves individually. But it becomes difficult when you have players coming in and going out, but that’s our challenge and we have to deal with it,” he added.

The match is scheduled to be underway on Saturday, August, 12, at 15h00.

SAFA is following the UEFA calender mxm. Our league should be between November and April... if there's AFCON or CHAN then it should start in October. Because I hate those long breaks trying to match the European games, forgetting that we are 4 less, almost 20 games to them

If this CHAN competition is so useless to SAFA, why cant they just drop it. Why they dont pull out? The game is in SA soil, I think all the teams that are outside the top 8 should have released their players at least. Pirates should have released 5-8 players. Just for us a SAs. In this CHAN, we saw the best of Mbatha and Majoro, if I can remember, not forgetting Uzoenyi Ejike from Nigeria hey

I remember Baxter didn't want to release the young teboho mokweona to under 20 world cup this year for senong.. Now Baxter is complaining of club not releasing players. OK but generally clubs should forced to release players for our country. SAFA must do something. SAFA must write a memo Attention : PSL and NFD club Date : 11/08/2017 Time : 12:40 Subject: all teams must release players for our country ..,.....,......,.. ......,..........,. ...,,.....,.................. ...,.,.,....,...... ........,........
