Result: Botswana 0-2 Bafana Bafana
Date: 15 July 2017
Venue: Francistown Stadium
Kaizer Chiefs striker, Ryan Moon and Gift Motupa were on target to help Bafana Bafana claim a 2-0 win over Botswana in the first leg of their 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier.
Botswana enjoyed most of the possession early on, while Thero Setsile was proving to be a real threat to the Bafana defence.
After a quiet opening, Bafana eventually broke the deadlock in the 28th minute courtesy of a strike from Chiefs striker Moon.
The home side looked to hit back and they went close through Setsile, who headed just wide of Boalefa Pule's goal.
However, Stuart Baxter's managed to see off any late surges in the first half to hold on to their lead heading into the break.
Botswana continued to push for an equaliser as the second half resumed, but they failed to find a way past the Bafana defence.
The visitors eventually doubled their lead in the 72nd minute courtesy of a strike from Gift Motupa with Cole Alexander picking up the assist.
Bafana nearly added a third goal in the closing stages through Mario Booysen, but the captain's header crashed against crossbar in the 79th minute.
Nevertheless, the score remained 2-0 to Baxter's charges, as they take a healthy lead into the second leg next weekend.
Here's how they lined up:
Bafana: Bafana: Pule, Nhlapo, Malepe, Booysen (C), Mvala, Norodien, Mokoena, Khumalo, Alexander, Moon, Motupa.
