In 2011, Spanish striker Fernando Torres moved to Chelsea from Liverpool on the final day of the transfer window for a reported fee of £50 million (R844 million), a deadline day record that was broken by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's £56 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal on Wednesday.
The third most expensive deadline day deal was Mesut Ozil's 2013 switch from Real Madrid to Arsenal for a reported figure of £42.5 million (R717 million).
Manchester United's Anthony Martial signing for £36 million (R608 million) three years ago is the fourth biggest deadline day deal ever in England, followed by Andy Carroll's surprising 2011 switch from Newcastle to Liverpool for £35 million (R591 million).
