Basetsana Coach Maud Khumalo Believes In WC Qualification

The dream of a maiden U-20 Women's World Cup qualification still remains a possibility according to the South African U-20 women's national football team Basetsana coach Maud Khumalo. Basetsana lost out to Nigeria in a crucial first leg last round World Cup qualifier. However, despite the fact that Basetsana will now have to overturn a 2-0 deficit the U-20 team coach is hopeful that her charges will be inspired enough to book a berth at this year's World Cup in August. Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Khumalo noted that if Basetsana played the same way as they did against the Falconets and convert the opportunities they fashioned then, they would be in good stead to secure their place in France for the World Cup. "If we play them in the return leg the same way we did and take our chances, I'm confident we can come away with a positive result. I know how much the players want this and I'm sure when we travel to Benin City we will do what we are supposed to do in order to make it to the World Cup finals in August," she concluded. The South Africans will have to net three goals or more and keep a clean sheet in Benin City to achieve a superior aggregate score over the Nigerians in a match scheduled to take place on 27 January 2018.
