Douglas Costa joined Juventus, who have won the Italian league title six times in a row, on loan from Bayern Munich during the latest transfer window, and he will reportedly pocket an annual net salary of €6 million (R93 million) at his new club, with only three players in Italy earning more, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

AC Milan's young goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is on the same level as Costa, while the Bianconeri's up-and-coming superstar Paulo Dybala receives €7 million (R108 million) annually.

Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain and Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci, who switched between the two Italian giants in the recent window, are said to be the joint highest earners in Italy, receiving €7.5 million (R116 million) a year.

Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan), Gianluigi Buffon (Juve), Edin Dzeko (Roma) and Miralem Pjanic (Juve) all pocket €4.5 million (R69 million) yearly, while Radja Nainggolan (Roma) is understood to receive €4.2 million (R65 million) annually.

Germany and Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira, with €4 million (62 million), and Napoli top earner Lorenzo Insigne, with €3.6 million (R55 million), complete the 12 highest paid stars in Serie A.
