Rival Reveals Why He Wouldn’t Ask Lionel Messi For His Jersey
A rival player has revealed why he would never ask FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi for his shirt after a game.
Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis has played against the Argentine many times in his career, for both club and country.
The Brazilian had praise for the 30-year-old in a recent interview, but also insisted he has never been tempted to ask for Messi's jersey at the end of a match because representing his team means more than playing against the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
"I admire Messi, he's never complained to me in any game we played but I've also never asked him for his jersey and never would," Luis told Panenka.
"I came to win, not to say I played against Messi."
Messi has played 34 times against Atletico in his career so far, scoring 27 goals and assisting a further six strikes.
