Neymar: I Didn't Quit FC Barcelona To Be Main Man

By Kurt Buckerfield - Aug 07, 2017 03:00 PM @KurtLaduma

New Paris Saint-Germain signing Neymar has rubbished claims that he quit FC Barcelona in order to be the star player of a team.

Neymar Officially Unveiled As PSG Player

The Brazilian recently became the most expensive player in the history of the football when he signed for PSG from Barca for €222 million (R3.46 billion).

Many believe that Neymar's move to France was motivated by his desire to be the leader of a team, but the player has rejected those claims, insisting it was the "new challenge" that inspired the switch.

"I do not want to be the only star, I wanted to come to Paris because I wanted something different, a new challenge. Not because I did not feel valued," he said, according to Marca.

"I have not come here for a more prominent role for myself. What PSG deserve is for me to give everything for the badge."

The 25-year-old scored 105 goals and assisted a further 80 strikes in 186 matches for the Blaugrana.

Even if it is true but the move is worthwhile. Good decision Neymar. There are many teams in world not just barca and Madrid. All the best just do what you do best and enjoy.

Messi playing for one Team doesnt mean all players must do the same. Ppl must leave the yung man alone. Whatever the reason as long as he is happy in Paris. As a matter of fact many of us are now more interested in Paris like bcz of him

Whatever. The move is done and dusted. It doesn't make any difference whether you explain whatever. Most people won't see you anymore. France league doesn't get more coverage globally like laliga and Epl.

Money wise he did well, but to achieve more in football especial in European competition I am not to sure about that, PSG are the same as Man.city who are yet or still have to wait long period of time to taste success in European top flight, bt if he went for Man.U or Chelsea that would be a fantastic, becourse there are only two countries who share the succes of European football (champions league and europa league), It's Spain and England......Germany can be in 3th....

Enough said mate, you just want to be a star in town. In Spain particularly in Barcelona, Messi was and still a star, his goal numbers are super impressive. i'm pretty sure that in Paris, you will be the star you want to be, no doubt, as for the European trophies, you'll be challanged as i think England teams are likely to dominate this trophy in the next 5 years or so
