Reports: Why FC Barcelona Didn't Sign Former Real Madrid Star
A report coming out of France has claimed that FC Barcelona were close to signing a former Real Madrid star in the latest window.
According to L’Equipe, Barca missed out on Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel di Maria because they refused to improve their bid by €10 million (R157 million).
The Blaugrana apparently offered the Ligue 1 giants €45 million plus €5 million in add-ons for the former Los Blancos and Manchester United player.
The 29-year-old was believed to be keen on a move back to La Liga, but his French side would not budge on their price-tag.
It appears that the Argentine has slipped down the club's pecking order since the star arrivals of Neymar as well as Kylian Mbappe from Monaco.
Many have questioned how the Spanish giants went about their business in the last window, as they struggled to secure some of their reported first choice targets, such as Philippe Coutinho and Marco Verratti.
Di Maria has made 94 appearances for the French side so far, scoring 29 goals and assisting in a further 41 more.
Do you think Di Maria will be a PSG player for much longer? Have your say in the comments section below.
