Goals win games, but assists create goals. Once again we’re unlikely to get a 20-goal striker this season, but we could a player with 20+ goal contributions.

With the Absa Premiership season almost at an end and five teams still in with a shot at winning the title, it will come as no surprise that eight of the 10 most productive attacking players in the league play for clubs currently in the chasing pack.
Right now there is one player leading the way with the most goal contributions this season (goals and assists), but that could all change as we approach the business end of the 2016/17 campaign.
Percy Tau, who is having a standout season for Mamelodi Sundowns, is the man currently leading the way with 17 goals and assists for the season, closely followed by Aubrey Ngoma of Cape Town City and Orlando Pirates’ Tendai Ndoro.
Ndoro is currently the top scorer in the league with 12, while Tau and Ngoma have 11 assists to their name at this point as they battle it out for the top spot in terms of goal creation.
Ngoma’s teammate, Lebogang Manyama, is a man hot on Ndoro’s heels for the golden boot and the former SuperSport United man has directly contributed to a total of 13 goals this season.
Meanwhile, Khama Billiat, Thabo Mnyamane, Gabadinho Mhango and Rodney Ramagalela are all in double figures with 12 goals and assists so far, as are Jeremy Brockie and Phakamani Mahlambi after their 10 contributions so far.
Who do you think will end the season as the league’s most productive forward?
