Insider Lifts Lid On Top-flight Club Drama

Insider Lifts Lid On Top-flight Club Drama

Further information has emerged detailing the drama that has rocked Baroka FC over the last few days, culminating in the suspension of coach Dylan Kerr.

His assistant Matsimela Thoka and goalkeeper coach Thomas 'Spaghetti' Nare will take over the reins in the interim to prepare the team for the start of the 2020/21 season in two weeks' time, but it appears they are at the center of Kerr's expulsion.

An insider privy to the latest Baroka saga suggested that the reports that the head coach, who was instrumental in helping the club avoid relegation last month, had dragged the team's name through the mud, was inaccurate.

"It's unfortunate for the coach to have to listen to the lies being spread, he's a hardworking coach whom the players look up to. He's never been derogatory to any assist coach or members of the technical team," the insider, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the Siya crew a day after Kerr was put on ice.

"But the reality is the assistants here are not qualified, they can't even put a proper session on. We have plenty of qualified local coaches out of work who could be here. It seems a "pay to play" initiative is more important to them than the club, the problem here is that everyone knows what goes on. The coach came and the club was bottom of the log, with his work we survived, if you don't want him to do the job don't employ him, anyways it won't change here, the luck will run out one day though."

Approached for comment on the claims made by the informant, Baroka CEO, Richard Mashabane, reacted by confirming the charge sheet.

"We have found the remarks made by the coach towards his assistant coaches recently to be very unprofessional and he is suspended until further notice. We don't have a date yet for the internal hearing – he is charged with insubordination and bringing the club into disrepute," Mashabane told the Siya crew.

Reports earlier this week also claimed there was an altercation between Kerr and chairman Khurishi Mphahlele.
