The Catalan giants need to generate funds from sales before being able to buy new players, according to widespread reports.
As a consequence, they will listen to offers for the majority of their players, with only Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Clement Lenglet, Frenkie de Jong and Lionel Messi considered untouchable.
The latter, though, reportedly wants to leave the Catalan giants "immediately" because he is upset with the club's board and is said to be disillusioned with the direction the Blaugrana are seemingly going in.
United are regarded as one of the very few clubs who could afford Messi, but the Premier League side is eyeing four other Barcelona players, according to Manchester Evening News.
Ousmane Dembele has been identified as the Red Devils' plan B if they are unable to lure Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford.
There has been contact between the English side and the France international, but, for now, it seems Dembele wants to stay in Barcelona, while United have not given up on Sancho yet.
The Mancunians are also believed to be interested in Samuel Umtiti, Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic, but the latter is expected to join his former club Sevilla.

Umtiti, who has struggled with knee injuries over the past two seasons but was an instrumental part of France's FIFA World Cup-winning squad in 2018, and Vidal seem the likeliest potential arrivals at Old Trafford if they are available for a reasonable price.
