Bundesliga Wrap: RB Leipzig Reclaim Top Spot From Bayern Munich

RB Leipzig leapfrogged Bayern Munich into the top spot after thumping Werder Bremen 3-0 at Red Bull Arena on Saturday evening.

Lukas Klostermann, Patrik Schick and Nordi Mukiele were all on target for Leipzig, who moved two points clear at the top of the log, with second-placed Bayern Munich playing away at FC Koln on Sunday.

Karim Bellarabi netted the winner for Bayer Leverkusen deep in stoppage time to seal a 3-2 victory over Union Berlin at Stadion An Der Alten Forsterei.

Kai Havertz and Moussa Diaby scored the two goals for Bayer in a see-saw game before Bellarabi snatched the winner in stoppage time.

Christian Gentner and Marius Bulter scored for Union, but they were unlucky to lose all the three points in stoppage time.

Bottom side Paderborn missed the chance to get out of the relegation zone after narrowly losing 2-1 to Hertha Berlin at Benteler Arena.

Paderborn's Dennis Srbeny cancelled out Dedryck Boyata's early opener for Hertha early in the second stanza but the visitors clinched all the three points thanks to an own goal by Jamilu Collins 23 minutes before time.

Wolfsburg edged Hoffenheim in a five goal thriller courtesy of a hat-trick by Wout Weghorst at Prezero Arena.

Weghorst scored once in the first stanza and twice in the second stanza for the visitors.

Christoph Baumgartner and Andrej Kramaric scored the two goals for Hoffenheim but they were not enough to avoid defeat.

Freiburg missed a chance to sneak into the top six after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Augsburg at WWK Arena.

Philipp Max broke the deadlock for Augsburg seven minutes before the break but Janik Haberer salvaged a point for Freiburg with the equaliser six minutes into the second stanza.

Borussia Monchengladbach proved too strong for Fortuna Dusseldorf after romping to a 4-1 victory at Merkur Spiel-Arena.

Lard Stindl's netted a brace for the visitors while Jonas Hofmann and Florian Neuhaus completed the rout Monchengladbach ran riot.

Erik Thommy scored what proved to be only the consolation goal for Fortuna, who remain in the play-off/relegation spot.
