With Lionel Messi reportedly bringing contract discussions at FC Barcelona to a halt last month, new information has emerged regarding the six-time Ballon d'Or winner's future in Spain.
Messi Sends Message To Casillas
It was claimed early in July that the 33-year-old paused contract negotiations with the Blaugrana after becoming increasingly frustrated with on-field and off-field matters at the club.
This led to reports suggesting that Messi could leave the Spanish giants when his contract expires in 2021, with Inter Milan said to be a potential destination.

Now, according to Spanish broadcaster El Chiringuito, the 2019 Ballon d'Or winner will need to take a massive wage cut if he wants to extend his stay at the Camp Nou.
It is claimed Messi will soon meet with Barcelona's board to discuss a way forward, and that he would need to accept a salary reduction if he does stay with the club, perhaps not only considering the economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak, but because he is now approaching his mid-thirties too.
2019/20 European Golden Shoe Winner Confirmed
Italian giants Inter are still reportedly keeping an eye on the forward's situation in Spain, which could very well change once the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League campaign is concluded.
According to Goal, Messi currently earns around £500 000 (R11.5 million) a week at Barca, which makes him among the best-paid footballers in football history.
