FC Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is a big reason why Lionel Messi is the best player in the world again, according to former Liverpool stalwart Jamie Carragher.
Mourinho: Winning Is Easier With Messi
The former England defender was a teammate of Suarez's during the Uruguayan's successful spell at Anfield, and often found himself defending the striker in the media.
Carragher has now admitted he didn't expect the Blaugrana's No. 9 to have as big an impact as he has had at the Catalan club, and even went as far as saying Suarez has helped Messi reclaim the title of the best player in the world.
"Luis is the best centre forward in the world," Carragher old AS.
"Luis has directly contributed towards Barca becoming an even better team than the one coached by (Pep) Guardiola.
"I thought it'd be impossible to say that, but he has had a direct role in Messi being the No. 1 player in the world again.
"Now the challenge is for him to be No. 1, and I think he has enough talent to do that."
