The Catalan giants put in yet another promising performance under new boss Ronald Koeman, but what might have been most exciting to supporters was Messi's display.
The 33-year-old, starting more centrally than many are used to, played a blind pass in the build-up to a brilliantly worked team goal that was finished off by Philippe Coutinho, before the Argentine got on the scoresheet himself with his weaker foot from outside the box.
It was a vintage display from the six-time Ballon d'Or winner, who was closer to leaving Barcelona than ever before just a few weeks ago after he requested to leave the club.
