A seven-goal thriller took place at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday as Baroka FC hosted Cape Town City. Lehlohonolo Majoro put the visitors in the lead before Bhongolwethu Jayiya added a second for the visitors. Albert Motupa then pulled one back for the host and just before the hour mark, Jacky Motshegwa equalised for Baroka. A free-kick from Given Mashikinye looked to have bagged a win for City, however, Mzwanele Mahashe drew the game level again. In the last few minutes of extra time, the Cape side finally sealed the victory through Sibusiso Masina.
The Tshwane derby took place as Mamelodi Sundowns hosted SuperSport United. The match went to a penalty shootout after 10-man SuperSport managed to hold on and keep Sundowns at bay. Ronwen Williams stepped up and saved two penalties from Thabo Nthethe and Sifiso Vilakazi to send Matsatsantsa through.
Highlands Park travelled to the Orlando Stadium as they took on Orlando Pirates. The Buccaneers were out for a win after their midweek defeat to SuperSport United. The home side broke the deadlock after an own goal by Augustine Mbara and Tendai Ndoro doubled the lead for the Buccaneers. The Lions of the North pulled one back courtesy of Mothobi Mvala but it was not enough as Pirates progressed.
Kaizer Chiefs hosted Free State Stars on Sunday. Ea Lla Koto took the lead as the left-back, Bokang Tlhone curled the ball into the net. In the second-half, Chiefs piled on the pressure and in the 84th minute, Chiefs' Edmore Chirambadare equalised. Thokozani Sekotlong put Stars in the lead once again in extra time, however Amakhosi fought back to level matters from an Erick Mathoho header. The match ended in a penalty shootout as Stars claimed the victory.
