Dan Dance The Front Runner For Pirates Job?
Changes Imminent For Orlando Pirates
While waiting for official confirmation regarding the appointment of the new Orlando Pirates coach, the Siya crew has learnt that Chippa United’s Daniel ‘Dan Dance’ Malesela has entered into the mix.
Pirates’ chairman, Irvin Khoza, has stated that the club will announce the new mentor to take over from interim coach Augusto Palacios on Monday. Various names have been bandied about as to who the new coach for Bucs will be, including Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba, Luc Eymael, Milutin Sredojevic and an unknown foreign-based coach.
However, it seems as though Malesela could be the man to take Pirates forward.
In edition 963 of the Soccer Laduma newspaper, in March 2016, the Siya crew revealed that Pirates had plans to possibly offer Malesela a role in their technical team. A source close to Pirates confirmed at the time that the club has been impressed with the progress made by Malesela in his coaching career in recent times.
It’s almost one year later, and it seems as though Malesela could take charge of the Bucs bench.
Having been a Bucs player at some stage during his playing days, and having worked with Pirates’ Technical Director Stanley ‘Screamer’ Tshabalala in the past, Malesela is seen as qualified enough to be handed a coaching role at the Soweto giants.
The Chilli Boys, however will not be happy to lose their coach, as they have seen the team transformed under his watch. According to a source, the club do not want him to leave.
“Look, I can tell you that Chippa are very happy with Dan coaching the team. The news about him likely to go to Pirates could create some sort of unhappiness at club (Chippa),” concluded the source.
