The Buccaneers should have opened the scoring after two minutes, as Gift Motupa rounded Denis Onyango but he struck the upright with the goals wide open.

Sundowns had a chance of their own a few minutes later, but Percy Tau failed to hit the target from close range after being played through on goal.

The Brazilians eventually broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when Themba Zwane rifled the ball home from close range, after some good work by Khama Billiat.

Pirates showed a little promise most notably through Motupa and Memela, although they were let down by their decision-making in the final third.

Sundowns eventually doubled their lead just before the break as Billiat registered his second assist by playing Tau, who slotted into the bottom corner.

Augustos Palacios introduced Thamsanqa Gabuza for Ayanda Gcaba at the start of the second half, before Anele Ngcongca made his Sundowns debut, coming on in the 54th minute.

James Okwuosa was not having the best of debuts and it got worse after 60 minutes when he conceded a penalty. Ricardo Nascimento stepped up and made converted the spot-kick, 3-0.

Sundowns the grabbed a fourth goal just over 10 minutes later as Thapelo Morena turned home Tiyani Mabunda's low cross.

The Brazilians continued the onslaught in the 75th minute when Tau turned provider to tee up Morena for his second of the game.

Sundowns wrapped up the scoring in the  81st minute, when Billiat turned provider to tee up Percy Tau for the simple tap in and his second of the game, 6-0.

The game was then suspended after supporters invaded the pitch and the clash resumed after 18h00.

The final eight minutes were played out, but the score remained 6-0 at the full-time although Mpho Makola did hit the upright in the closing stages.

Orlando Pirates is the only team to concede 6 goals in 1 game more than once (I cant say twice because I'm unsure of their capabilities considering that Wits and Supersport are yet to play them this season LOL)
