After a quiet start, Chiefs had a chance to break the deadlock in the 15th minute when Siphiwe Tshabalala picked out Ramahlwe Mphalele, who headed wide at the far post.

Chippa were dealt a blow midway through the second half, as Buyani Sali was forced off with an injury after a tackle from Lorenzo Gordinho.

The home side went close to breaking the deadlock in the 30th minute, as George Maluleka's effort from distance sailed just wide of the upright.

The Chilli Boys were on the back foot for most of the half, and struggled to get their usual passing game going, which led to a lack of chances in the first half.

Chiefs nearly broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime, but Gustavo Paez's acrobatic effort sailed just wide of the upright.

Steve Komphela opted for a change at the start of the second half, as Edmore Chirambadare made way for George Lebese.

Tshabalala went close to breaking the deadlock in the 55th minute, as he did well to create space on the edge of the box, but fired just wide of the upright.

Chipppa had a chance of their own in the 64th minute when Bereng teed up Andile Mbenyane, but the midfielder blazed wide with only Itumeleng Khune to beat.

Komphela opted for a change after 76 minutes as Tsepo Masilela made way for Hendrick Ekstein as they pushed for a winning goal.

Chiefs pushed for a winning goal in the closing stages and were rewarded in the 85th minute, as Lebese cut inside before firing home from 12-yards out.

The victory sees Chiefs move up to second spot, level on points with leaders Cape Town City, who boast a superior goal difference.

@LeCowhlohlo, I don't mind Wits or Cape Town City winning the league, but as for fau, I think they must first buy players before entertaining any thought of lifting the league Tittle.

@makhanda-mendu, yes, I know it is tough down there, very tied, no team is safe as yet, from position 6 downwards as you say, but to suggest that Bucs will go down is taking matters too far.
