Sundowns Open Talks For Ajax Defender

Mamelodi Sundowns Open Talks For Ajax Cape Town Defender

By Soccer Laduma - May 19, 2017 05:31 PM

Mamelodi Sundowns have officially approached Ajax Cape Town for their young defender and negotiations have been initiated.

As reported by Soccer Laduma earlier this year, Sundowns tabled an offer to the Urban Warriors for the services of Rivaldo Coetzee.

The Bafana Bafana defender has been a wanted man by the Brazilians for quite some time now and Sundowns have officially taken one step further in their pursuit of the player.

As reported in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, according to a source within the Brazilians’ camp, the two parties have officially begun talks and both clubs are said to be keen on concluding a transfer for the 20-year-old.

Coetzee’s current contract with Ajax is set to expire at the end of the 2016/17 campaign, however, the club has an added two-year option on the player’s deal.

Indications are that Ajax will look to exercise the option and subsequently cash in on the player once the transfer is concluded.

However, like all high-profile signings, the talks and negotiations are set to continue over the next two months, as all three parties; the player’s camp, the selling club and the buying club will have to agree to the terms and conditions of a deal before the transfer can be concluded.

Kaizer Chips football manager Bobby Motaung has backed coach Steve Komphela amidst growing pressure from the club’s faithful to give him the boot. “You can’t change coaches like that. How many years did it take for Gavin Hunt to be fighting to win the league (with Bidvest Wits)? It’s the same story with Pitso (Mosimane). “Imagine if we fire him now and another coach comes in to ride on his hard work? The truth is Steve has been unfortunate. We have played well this season. How do you blame him for the last-minute goals we conceded in the latter part of the title race?” Bobby Motaung adumbrated. Motaung, who continues to bear the brunt of the club’s supporters also praised Komphela for introducing youngsters like Lorenzo Gordinho, Pule Ekstein and Ryan Moon," he added. “Steve has been brave enough to change the team and promote players who were not given a chance before. But sometimes our fans are not patient. They want results now,” Motaung concluded

If Sundowns manage to sign the boy. Hope he will partner Madisha in the team. Nascimento is very good though as well.

That's one thing I like about our technical staff, they solve problems. Some of our center-backs are not doing well, and our technical staff is doing something about it
