Phakamani Mahlambi is set for crunch talks with Mamelodi Sundowns in the coming days over his future, the Siya crew has been informed.
The attacker has been deemed surplus to requirements at Chloorkop and has been heavily linked with a move to AmaZulu after a potential deal to Swallows FC fell through over the last several weeks.
According to Siya sources, the player should know his fate early next week – a few days shy of the transfer window closing on November 30.
Mahlambi, 23, joined Downs two seasons ago for a whopping R13-million from Al Ahly, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.
He has not featured at all for the club so far this season under new joint coaches Manqoba Mnqgithi and Rulani Mokwena, who took over permanently following the shock resignation of serial winner Pitso Mosimane.
Mosimane was appointed Al Ahly coach.
The Siya crew has previously reported that one of the hold-ups in Mahlambi going out on loan was the request made by the club that the player extends his contract before he leaves, and it's thought this is to protect their investment should the player come good while on loan.
Next week's crunch talks will determine his short term future, with Kaizer Chiefs thought to be monitoring the situation as they, too, are keen on the player.
But Amakhosi can only show genuine interest next season because of their current FIFA ban.
