The Siya crew has learnt that Chippa United are closing in on the signing of a former Free State Stars defender.
So far, the Chilli Boys have confirmed the signings of defenders Ryan Rae and Isaac Nhlapo from Highlands Park and Ajax Cape Town respectively, while Ramasimong Maloisane and Senzo Mdlinzo have also joined coach Lehlohonolo Seeama's side.
Now, the crew understands that Chippa are in advanced talks to land the signature of promising left back Sthembiso Ngobe.
The 24-year-old was last on the books of GladAfrica Championship side Stars, who he joined from Swedish outfit FC Rosengard in July last year.
It is understood that the player could pen a two-year deal with the Port Elizabeth outfit, while the club will have a further option on his deal.
Contacted for comment, the player's representative Dimitri Papadakis of Pandim Investments confirmed that they are in talks with the club over a possible deal.
"Yes there are talks between us and the team over Sthembiso. The player is looking to ply his trade in the PSL, and we believe he has the quality to do so. There are a few things to iron out but, we are confident that a deal can be reached soon," Papadakis said.
Chippa United get their season underway when they take on Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership on October 24.
