“If Komphela Plays Him, Chiefs Can Go Through”
“If Steve Komphela Plays Him, Kaizer Chiefs Can Go Through”
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker, Mark Williams, is impressed with Amakhosi’s new striker and is confident that the player will guide the team to victory against SuperSport United.
Amakhosi will host the defending champions, SuperSport in the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup on Saturday, April 22, at the FNB Stadium, with both sides competing for the league title and vying for victory in the last Cup competition in the 2016/17 campaign.
Chiefs claimed wins over Stellenbosch FC and Acornbush United in the Nedbank Cup, with Venezuelan striker, Gustavo Paez, scoring in both encounters.
The 27-year-old has scored three goals so far in the competition and speaking to Soccer Laduma, Bafana Bafana legend, Williams is confident that Paez will give the Matsatsantsa defenders a tough time tomorrow.
“For Chiefs, it is a big opportunity for them. They are playing at home, they are full of confidence. They have this new striker, what I like about him is he puts pressure on the defenders, he reminds me a little about me,” Williams told Soccer Laduma.
“A lot of defenders sometimes they take their time on the ball and if SuperSport defenders are going to do that and Steve Komphela is going to play Paez, I think they can see themselves going through to the semi-finals,” he added.
