Cape Town City will face Eric Tinkler's SuperSport United in the MTN8 final after they claimed a 3-1 aggregate over Bidvest Wits.

The Clever Boys took control from the onset as they pushed for an early goal in the encounter.

Wits' pressure paid off after 13 minutes when Shu-Aib Walters' saved Thulani Hlatshwayo's effort but the ball deflected off Robyn Johannes and sailed into the back of the net.

The Clever Boys managed to carve out another chance after 25 minutes when Vincent Pule got to byline and picked out Elias Pelembe, who fired just wide of the upright.

The visitors leveled matters in the 27th minute when Amr Gamal headed Ayanda Patosi's free-kick into his own net.

The Clever Boys dominated for the rest of the half, while the likes of Granwald Scott and Vincent Pule wenti close to restoring Wits' lead in the final 10 minutes of the stanza.

Gavin Hunt opted for a change at the start of the second half, as Eleazar Rodgers and Daine Klate were introduced.

City were a dealt a blow just before the hour mark when Roland Putshce was stretchered off after nasty collision with Hlathswayo.

Benni McCarthy's charges then took the lead in the 71st minute as Lehlohonolo Majoro turned his marker and fired into the bottom corner from close range.

McCarthy then opted for a defensive change with 10 minutes remaining as Tshepo Gumede replaced Teko Modise.

Wits pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages of the second half, but City managed to hold on to claim the win on the day to secure their spot in the final.

@Vhivha Well, your race card is being played on the wrong platform I say. Next time try to assess situation better than the so-called "mediocre" journalists of ours and show us you're a better wannabe journo. Well,on the point of Gavin Hunt not being told to step down,it's only Bidvest Wits'business and their fans'. I'm a Khosi, and have always stood by Komphela's side. Wits isn't in the same WhatsApp group as Kaizer Chiefs and that's why you hear more about Amakhosi's cries than Wits'. Hunt won the league with Wits, something they never got and that alone justifies why he's not being told to go. Don't compare Chiefs with Wits because Wits are in a Multimix, a Mxit group chat, and Chiefs are in a WhatsApp Group...

@Nhlpato Hunt has been losing matches from the begining of this season, why not calling Hunt anf Ferreira to step down? Are you scared of Mlungus?

Hunt with all his useless expensive signings lost to CTC players whom are underrated even by mediocre Journos from Soccer Laduma, PowerFM, BBK, Masuku. There is not a single call from mzatsi fans calling for Hunt to step down because Hunt is Mlungu, Hunt has not been winning since the begining of this season, everybody is mum, if it was Steve and Chiefs, there would be calls for him to resign, and some seeingna useless Bobby. Why not calling for Hunt and Ferreira to step down with Wits? it is because they're both Mlungus, and Darkies are not allowed to coach big clubs. hahahaha....
