While Messi has caught up with Edinson Cavani as the most prolific goalscorer in Europe's top five leagues after netting his 27th goal, Luis Suarez became the first player to reach double figures for both goals and assists this season.

Overall, the Uruguayan has been involved in 35 goals, scoring 24 and assisting another 11 strikes.

Messi follows in second place with 27 goals and seven assists, accumulating to his involvement in 34 La Liga goals in 2016/17.

Cavani has added only one assist to his 27 Ligue 1 goals, which means he has been involved in as many goals as Robert Lewandowski, who has scored 24 times and assisted another four strikes in the Bundesliga.

Mauro Icardi has been involved in 28 Serie A goals, scoring 20 and setting up another eight for Inter Milan.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (25 goals and two assists), Romelu Lukaku (21 goals and six assists), and Alexis Sanchez (18 goals and nine assists) have all been involved in 27 goals this season.
