Matsatsantsa started the Absa Premiership season with a 2-0 loss to cross-town rivals Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday afternoon.
While Tembo noted the early loss of Aubrey Modiba did have an effect, the direct replacement, Mahachi, and Gabuza did fare well on the day.
"It is destabilising, especially because Aubrey was threatening, especially on transitions. So when he got injured, we kind set back a little bit. I'm not so sure how serious is the injury, we'll only know tomorrow," Tembo told SuperSport after the game. "Those two [Gabuza and Mahachi] are still finding their feet in terms of understanding our structure. I'm happy with their effort and contribution as well. They will get better with time. "The second goal [we conceded], you can't really read too much [into it], it was on transition, we were sending bodies forward trying to get the equaliser. We could have scored before they scored. That was our day, missed chances, we didn't take our chances and they took theirs. That's what happens. "We're not there yet, physically I think we can improve, especially with game time. We will get better with our second game. I was happy with the overall performance of the guys, we kept on fighting and probing. We just have to improve in taking our chances," he concluded.
